Stage 1: Pre-Inspection

Before any cleaning begins, we carry out a comprehensive inspection of your carpets and upholstery.

– Fibre Identification: We inspect both carpets and soft furnishings to identify whether fibres are synthetic (such as nylon or polypropylene) or delicate natural weaves (such as wool, cotton or viscose) so we can choose the safest and most effective cleaning method.

– Condition & Damage Assessment: We assess existing wear, backing issues and subtle pre-existing damage.

– Fibre Integrity & Pest Check: We check for pre-existing fibre damage and signs of pest activity, such as carpet moths, so you are fully informed before we begin (please note: this is a pre-clean assessment rather than an extermination service)

Stage 2: Preparing the Area & Furniture Moving

Where it’s safe to do so, we’re happy to move suitable items of furniture to maximise the area we can clean.

For liability reasons, we do not move large cabinets, heavy wardrobes, complex entertainment systems, pianos, or other valuable/fragile belongings.

Stage 3: High-Filtration Dry Vacuuming

Dry soil makes up the vast majority of dirt in any carpet or sofa. Attempting to wet-clean a carpet without removing loose dry grit creates mud. We use a high-performance, dual-motor commercial vacuum equipped with advanced high-filtration bags. This pulls deeply embedded grit, dust, and pet hair out of the pile before any liquid is applied.

Stage 4: Targeted Stain Treatment

Stubborn spots, spills, and high-traffic marks are pre-treated individually using specialised, fibre-safe spotters. Whether it’s tea, coffee, red wine, or pet accidents, we apply targeted chemistry to break down the specific stain compounds gently without bleaching or setting the mark.

Stage 5: Pre-Spray & Mechanical Agitation

Once dry soils are removed, we apply a high-performance pre-spray solution across the entire surface to break down oily grime and traffic-lane soils.

Tailored Cleaning Solutions for Every Fibre: Carpets and soft furnishings require fundamentally different approaches. Durable synthetic carpets benefit from deep-cleaning pre-sprays, while fine upholstery and wool fabrics require delicate, WoolSafe-approved solutions formulated at a safe, mildly alkaline level that won’t damage the fibres. We use premium, eco-friendly formulas such as our Njord Pre-Spray Solutions for carpets and Njord Valhalla Fine Fabric Pre-Spray for delicate upholstery.

Mechanical Agitation: We then mechanically agitate the solution into the fibres using specialised equipment. This ensures the pre-spray coats every fibre to suspend soil deep in the pile without abrasive scrubbing.

Stage 6: Hot Water Extraction with Acidic Neutralising Rinse

This is the core of the cleaning process. Using our high-powered, twin-vacuum hot water extraction machine, we inject heated water deep into the carpet pile or upholstery fabric to flush out suspended dirt and oils, immediately extracting the slurry with powerful vacuum recovery.

Acidic Neutralising Rinse: We run a specialised acidic rinse through our machine. This neutralises the alkaline pre-spray, restores your carpet’s natural pH balance and leaves the fibres soft and free of sticky residue to help prevent rapid re-soiling.

Ultra-Fast Drying: Our high-performance twin-vacuum system extracts maximum moisture, helping carpets and upholstery dry quickly.

Stage 7: Post-Clean Deodoriser

Once extraction is complete, we lightly mist a professional-grade, pH-neutral deodoriser (such as Njord Greed) across the freshly cleaned areas. This serves as a pleasant finishing touch, leaving the room with a light, fresh, and inviting fragrance.

Please note: For severe pet accidents or deep-seated contamination, targeted specialist spotters and sub-surface neutralisers—such as Dreadnjord—are applied during our pre-treatment stage rather than relying on a finishing mist.

Stage 8: (Optional Add-On): Asgard Stain Protection

To keep your freshly cleaned carpets and upholstery looking pristine for longer, we offer the professional application of Njord Asgard.
